Chicago has been home to LVNx since its inception in 2022 for good reason. As one of the most accessible cities in the country, it brings our community together with ease. But convenience is only part of the story. Chicago delivers energy: vibrant neighborhoods, iconic lakefront views, and a backdrop that makes every LVNx conversation feel sharper and more dynamic. Here's why LVNx is back in our favorite city.

1. Easy In. Easy Around.

Getting to Chicago is refreshingly straightforward. O’Hare and Midway connect the city to nearly everywhere, and once you land, downtown is a quick drive or train ride away.

Getting around doesn’t require a strategy session. The city is compact and flat, with easy walks between venues, reliable “L” trains and CTA bus routes, readily available taxis, rideshares, and Divvy bikes when you want to move quickly. You can go from session to dinner to skyline views without overcomplicating it.

You'll notice that Chicagoans say “L” or “el” instead of “subway.” It’s short for “elevated,” since much of the system runs above the streets.

2. Our Home Base: Swissôtel Chicago

Set where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan, Swissôtel Chicago is well located and architecturally iconic. Its distinctive glass, triangular design means skyline and water views in nearly every direction.

Step outside and you’re moments from the Riverwalk, Millennium Park, and the lakefront path. Walk one way, and you’re at The Bean and Michigan Avenue; head another, and you’re crossing the river toward the Wrigley Building and beyond. LVNx 2026 gives you a front-row seat to the best of Chicago.

3. Where the River Meets the Lake

This is where the city really shows off. The Chicago River winds through downtown before meeting the expansive blue of Lake Michigan, and if you time it right, you might catch one of Chicago’s iconic bridges lifting to let sailboats pass. It’s a little moment of engineering theater that never gets old. You can also watch boats move through the lock system between the river and the lake, or take a Chicago’s First Lady cruise and experience the change yourself.

The Chicago Architecture Center’s River Cruise is something even locals swear by for a front-row seat to the city’s bold design story. Or rent a kayak to paddle between skyscrapers. Chicago's Water Taxi is a gem for a relaxed cruise to Chinatown, stopping at Ping Tom Memorial Park along the way.

4. The Riverwalk

Just a short walk from the Swissôtel, the Chicago Riverwalk is your built-in bonus venue. Stretching along the water at street level, it’s lined with café tables, wine bars, and open-air seating, making it ideal for spontaneous meetups and small-group conversations.

Grab coffee at a riverfront café, schedule a walking 1:1 instead of a lobby sit-down, or host an informal happy hour with skyline views as your backdrop. With boats cruising by and the city rising above you, the Riverwalk turns a simple stroll into a setting that will stay with you.

5. Magnificent Mile Energy

The Magnificent Mile puts you right in the center of Chicago’s signature energy. This iconic stretch of Michigan Avenue blends landmark architecture, flagship brands, rooftop bars, and local favorites into one vibrant corridor.

You can stroll past the Wrigley Building, pop into Water Tower Place, grab Garrett Popcorn for the office, and still make it back in time for evening events.

6. Big Ideas, World-Class Culture

Chicago delivers big-city culture without big-city sprawl. From the iconic lions guarding the Art Institute to the bold, conversation-starting exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art, world-class experiences are all within reach.

And for this crowd? The American Writers Museum is a must. A hidden gem celebrating the power of language, storytelling, and ideas, which feels especially fitting for a community built on clarity, strategy, and persuasive thinking.

7. The Bean

The proper name is Cloud Gate, and a photo at “The Bean” is an LVN rite of passage. Millennium Park is a gathering place for bold ideas and fresh perspectives. The park is known for live music, the Lurie Garden, and the playful Crown Fountain (just wait for the faces to start spouting water). It’s the perfect reminder that the best conversations, like the best cities, blend creativity, reflection, and a little fun.

8. Rooftop Moments

Just across from Millennium Park, Cindy’s Rooftop delivers one of the best views in Chicago. Step onto the balcony and you’re greeted with a panoramic sweep of The Bean, the skyline, and Lake Michigan stretching out beyond it all. Perched atop the historic Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, this vibrant cocktail bar and eatery is the perfect spot to gather.

LondonHouse is famous for its rooftop bar overlooking the river. Get a front-row seat to the Chicago River, the city’s iconic bridges, and sunset views.

These spots are equal parts elevated, energetic, and unmistakably Chicago.

9. Culinary Perspective

Chicago doesn’t just feed you, it fuels the debate. LVNx is your chance to take a definitive stance on deep-dish: Team Lou Malnati’s or Team Giordano’s? Are you loyal to Peaquod’s caramelized crust, or do you swear by Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder Co.'s legendary pizza pot pies? In this city, food is a point of view.

And then there’s Portillo’s! A Chicago staple that's become an LVNx tradition, with attendees meeting to walk over for dinner and swap stories over Chicago dogs (they do serve ketchup if you must), Italian beef sandwiches (highly recommend you get it wet, with sweet peppers), and chocolate cake shakes. It’s unfiltered, unofficial, and exactly the kind of connection that makes LVNx special.

Seek out a jibarito — a Chicago-born Puerto Rican steak sandwich made with crispy fried plantains instead of bread. It’s bold, messy, and criminally underrated.

10. Golden-Hour Chicago

Warm enough to enjoy patio dining and golden-hour walks along the river? Chef’s kiss. Come for the conference, stay for the seasonal charm. Check the weather right now.

Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, LVNx 2026 is the perfect reason to experience Chicago in a new way. This is a city that pairs grit with grandeur, ambition with artistry, and delivers a skyline that stops you in your tracks every single time.

Conference registration opens in June, along with our room block at the Swissôtel Chicago: Explore the Venue & Location.
