Happy Women’s History Month! I am so excited to celebrate this magnificent month alongside the 2nd birthday of LVN. When I first started in legal, there weren’t a lot of people that looked like me in these roles and definitely not a lot of women. It was unchartered territory, creating a Legal Pricing role from the ground up and not having a ton of female mentors to help guide me. While that was hard, I learned to find a network and mentorship through connecting with strong people (many of them women) in other roles that helped inspire and shape what I was trying to achieve. I’m grateful for that and this community at large. We all came together and helped create a lot of opportunity for others not only in the field of Legal Pricing, but in the various other sectors that make up the ecosystem that is the Business of Law. One such initiative that has been my great honor to be involved with is creating Legal Value Network.
As a community that supports the business of law, we have grown to over 1,000 members of which at least 40% is female. That’s a great accolade but also a good reminder for us that we’ve got some room to grow. I’m seeing more and more new people joining our functional roles throughout the legal services arena and am excited to see how many women have also joined these roles. I feel a lot of excitement seeing both the maturity and diversification of the community.
Over the course of the last two years, LVN has had the pleasure of bringing webinars, expert content, podcasts, and this newsletter to our member base and it pleases me to see that strong female voices are woven through the fabric of all of our offerings. And this is just the beginning! We want to utilize the member base we have now to provide mentoring and networking opportunities for women who are in these roles.
We have lots more exciting programs planned for our future. We have created the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) to help bring together the diverse force of phenomenal women in our community to help foster connections and grow as leaders. Together, we will achieve more. I believe in that fully, not just for WIN, but for all of LVN. I am very optimistic about the platform we’ve created and am proud to serve on the Board alongside great company, including my fellow WIN co-lead, Kristina Lambright (please do check her out in the member spotlight this month). There’s a lot of opportunity to get involved and I hope you’ll reach out to me with ideas and thoughts.
